Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli made the response on Friday to a question asked by a reporter about the deployment of 7,000 undercover security forces by the Police; “all 7,000 forces are members of the Law Enforcement that will report on blackmails, thefts, and hijab-related offences on their time off.”
“This does not mean a direct confrontation, however” he stressed. “Perhaps, bringing up the issue by using incorrect and inappropriate description has been a wrong move from the start, because the forces have not been deployed to intervene directly in people’s lives or impose their own ideas partially.”
The interior minister stressed that sustainable security will be achieved by cooperating with the people, adding “of course, we will continue observing the code of conduct in order to preserve our values.”
According to Tehran’s police chief Hossein Sajedinia, the police have monitored four different offenses in the past two years, including sound pollution, dangerous driving on highways, harassment of women, and removing the hijab in the car.
